Air Education and Training Command's Vance AFB in Oklahoma is a production line for the finest military pilots in the world. The base also conducts joint specialized undergraduate pilot training for Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and the air forces of several allied countries.



The base is named for Lt. Col. Leon Robert Vance Jr., a local World War II hero and Medal of Honor recipient. Located adjacent to Enid, 84 miles north of Oklahoma City. Children attend local schools in Enid. Childcare and home care are available. The base has an outpatient clinic, with hospitals located in Enid.



An auto skills center, wood skills center, service equipment rental and recreational vehicle storage are available, with other recreation options including: bowling; fitness center; pool; library; and youth and teen centers.
