Kingsville Naval Air Station southwest of Corpus Christi in Texas' Coastal Bend region.

The primary mission of Kingsville NAS is to train tactical jet pilots for the Navy and Marine Corps. Training Air Wing 2 controls all training in the T-45A Goshawk, the Navy's newest jet trainer. The VT-21 Fighting Redhawks train future carrier jet pilots, while the VT-22 Golden Eagles conducts advanced strike jet training. The Strike Instructor Training School, also a part of Training Air Wing TWO, prepares winged fleet aviators to become flight instructors in the T-45A.

A Branch Medical Clinic handles routine health problems.

Founded in 1904, the city of Kingsville was once known as the "Wild Horse Desert." Home to the famous King Ranch, a national historic landmark, Kingsville is recognized as the birthplace of the American ranching industry. The King Ranch, with its diverse habitats, attracts many species of migratory birds. The King Ranch primarily raises thoroughbreds and quarter horses. Other area ranchers raise livestock, cotton and grain, while explorers seek natural gas, petroleum and uranium. Manufacturers produce chemicals, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. Texas A&I University, founded in 1925, trains some workers for these occupations. The John E. Conner Historical Museum documents the area's heritage.

Recreation options on base include a wide variety of sports: bowling, fishing, hunting, tennis, volleyball and swimming. Many participants stay in shape at the Nautilus Center. Personnel can take their families to the Escondido Ranch for a weekend getaway or go on a hunt for deer or javalinas. Local state parks include Dick Kleberg Park, Kuala-Hubert Memorial Park & Seawind RV Resort and the J.K. Northway Exposition Center/Park.
